Mommy vs. Darla: Chasing Pugs…

Hanging her head in shame...
Hanging her head in shame…

Today the weather was unusually pleasant. Between moving, unpacking and everyday life, we haven’t had much time to go to the dog park.

And, in my defense, the last time I took them without Leo, Thor decided to morph into a little alpha, fixating on a dog and trying to hump him. When I tried to leash him…well, it now looks like a by strong man grabbed my wrist the wrong way. Evil little Ewok…

Darla is a champ at the dog park, for the most part. Sometimes (rarely, thank God) they decide to gang up on the same dog and make me a very embarrassed canine mommy.

So today, feeling guilty about their lack of park time, I decided to talk them for a walk around our neighborhood.
It was like they forgot anything we taught them. Leashes were tugged, sidewalks pooped on, children harassed…

I decided to cut the walk short; I still had to get my food and purse out of the car. While I pondered how to hold an excited shih tzu and an unruly Dane while I got the car open and my food out, it happened.

Darla saw a pug.

At first, she gave no inclination of any intention to get closer. Just when I thought I was in the clear- whoosh! I think she dragged me about five feet before I was able to regain control. And do you think little miss acted at all ashamed? Nope.
Thor at least had the decency to walk land behave like
a champ as I balanced my food, my bag, and the two hellhounds up the stairs (because, today of all days, the elevator in my building went kapoot). It want until I got inside did she realize mommy was mad. She quickly
Read me and scampered to her bed, hanging her head in shame…
